John 1:16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
The riches of His grace: Eph 2:7
We can never exhaust the riches of God’s grace. When we receive Him as Savior we receive “grace upon grace”, one grace after another – grace for grace. Paul says that God makes “all grace to abound to us” (2 Cor 9:8).
The many graces:
Saving grace Eph 2:8
Justifying grace – Ro 3:24. We have the righteousness of Christ imputed to us.
Standing grace – Ro 5:2. God’s grace enables us to stand or remain in Him by His grace.
Working grace – 1 Cor 15:10. We have been created to do good works after our conversion and it is the very grace of God that enables us to perform the work – to live the Christian life. Paul said that he became Paul the Apostle by the grace of God and he worked in God’s service by grace also.
Serving grace – He 12:28. Often people say they cannot live for God so they do not try, but Scripture tells us that it is the very grace of God that enables us to serve God faithfully.
Sustaining grace thru tests/trials – James 4:6. In our Christian walk we have numerous tests and trials, but God gives us more grace as the need arises.
Strengthening grace – 2 Cor 12:9. Paul had some type of physical infirmity that caused him distress and he sought god for release from it; but God did not release him told him that His grace would be sufficient for the weakness that this problem caused in his life and ministry. God’s grace strengthens us when we need strength – it is sufficient for the need.
Giving grace – 2 Cor 8:5-7. Paul says that our giving, whether it is of ourself or material things, is also a grace given to us by God.
Peter tells us to “grow in grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ”, because our growth in grace is also our spiritual growth and maturity as well. Is it any wonder that the writer of Hebrews speaks about our holy living and failing the grace of God (He 12:14-15).
