Circumcised vesus deceived heart

(Deu 10:16) Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
(Deu 30:6) And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
Colossians 2:10-11 (KJV)
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Circumcision was the ceremonial outward sign of being a part of the covenant that God made with Abraham. All males were to receive the rite of circumcision and if any refused to receive it then they were excluded from God’s covenant -- “And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. . . And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.” It also had other benefits but it was established by God for those who were part of that Abrahamic covenant.
Many years later Paul wrote the passage that is our text for the week in which he speaks of a circumcised heart, just as God spoke of circumcising the hearts of His people. Paul did just as Jesus did, showing people that the truest sense of Christianity or a relationship with God does not lay in superficial outward symbols, but that of the heart. Today most married people wear a wedding band to indicate that they are married, but this does not prevent anyone from committing adultery. While the wearing of a band may prevent some of the opposite sex from approaching another, it cannot prevent the individual from pursuing another person that is not their spouse. Similarly, outward symbols or standards performed in the name of Christianity, does not make that person holy not will it prevent them from sinning or going away from God. Only a heart that is committed either to their spouse or God will prevent them from going astray.
Circumcision in the flesh is the cutting away of an abundance of flesh and is accomplished today shortly after birth to male children. They have found that circumcision helps prevent disease, aids in reproduction and also studies indicate that wives of uncircumcised men have a higher incidence of cancer.
Circumcision of the heart is cutting away of secret impurities that are hidden from others. Secret sins can hinder the walk of any born again Christian, therefore, the Psalmist cried out – “Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.” When we see or hear of one who has been walking with the Lord for a while and evidently doing well, and they suddenly depart from the Lord, it is because there were secret sins that no one else knew about and they were eating away at that person’s relationship with the Lord and to our eyes they suddenly were gone, but all the while they were slowly departing as the secret sins were eating away at them like a cancer. A circumcised heart then is one that is completely open to God and surrendered to Him and His inspection and cleansing. This cleansing may come in the form of cutting, just as circumcision of the flesh involves cutting. Pain is often associated with this circumcising, just as Peter tells us of the suffering of Jesus – “Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; {2} That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.”
A deceived heart is one that prevents the Lord from ridding it of those secret sins. They cherish and hide those sins, even justifying their presence in their life. Nothing is hid from God and He will work to bring it to light in order to bring the individual to repentance to avoid judgment upon the person. God warns through Jeremiah – “Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.” Refusing to circumcise our hearts or allow God to perform this necessary surgery will bring judgment upon us and lead us into sin and eventually eternal condemnation.
How do we get a circumcised heart? Ask God to search our hearts – “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: {24} And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Wait before God for His searching and revealing work – “I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins . . .” Worship God with our heart and not just our lips, presence and money – “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus
