Post resurrection appearances of Christ

(Luke 24:18) And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

First three appearances:
Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene (Mk 16:9; Jn 20:11-18) Mary was one of those who watched when Jesus was laid in the tomb (Matt 27:59-61), and after the Sabbath she along with the other women went to anoint His body. The Scripture tells us that Joseph and Nicodemus wrapped Jesus in burial clothes along with spices (Jn 19:39-40) and laid His body in Joseph’s tomb. Mary and the other women may not have known they used the spices or they felt it should be done in a different manner, so they returned the first day of the week with other spices to anoint Jesus’ body.
The second appearance of Jesus was to the other women who had gone along with Mary to anoint His body (Matt 28:8-9). They were on their way back from the sepulcher when Jesus appeared to therm. As as Mary saw the stone rolled away, she stopped hr approach to the sepulcher and ran to find Peter and John, but the other women approached the open tomb and spoke with the angels (Matt 28:5-7; Mk 16:1-8).
The third appearance seems to be to Simon sometime after the women on resurrection day (Lu 24:34; 1 Cor 15:4-5). This appearing is not recorded in detail but mentioned only that it happened.
The fourth appearance of Christ after the resurrection seems to be to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus as they were talking about the events of the day and Jesus draws near to them and He talks with them about the events of the day. After talking and opening the Scriptures to them He breaks bread and then disappears.
Other appearances:
The fifth appearance was on Resurrection day after the Emmaus disciples return to Jerusalem to tell the others they had seen and talked to Jesus. They (the other disciples) tell them how Peter had seen Jesus and they then tell of their experience on the road to Emmaus (Lu 24:36). Jesus suddenly appears to them all as they are gathered together talking of His resurrection. Jesus assures them of the truth of His resurrection and shows them His hands and feet and eats before them – Thomas is not present for some reason.
Eight days after the resurrection (the next Sunday) Jesus appears to them again (Jn 20:26) this time Thomas was present and Jesus offers proof to him that He is alive. Thomas acknowledges Jesus as his Lord and God.
Appearances during the next forty days:
Jesus did not reside with the people as He had done before His crucifixion and resurrection. He now has a glorified body and would probably go between heaven and earth to appear to them. We are told that He appeared by times to them for a period of forty days -- (Acts 1:3) “To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:” At one time He appeared to over five hundred (1 Cor 15:6), but apparently only to believers (Acts 10:41). At the end of forty days He once again appeared to them and led them out to Bethany where He ascended up into heaven (Lu 24:50-51).
