God who provides

Romans 15:13  Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

God’s provision for believers

God provides for us far more than just our physical needs – although He does that also. These are seen in the seven titles given to Him in the NT.

The God of love

We need love and so does the world just as the pop song said. One of the nine-fold products of the abiding Holy Spirit is love (Gal 5:22). We all need to be loved and that is the famous verse’s statement that God so loved. But more than that we need love within us in order to show God’s love to others who are also seeking to be loved (Ro 5:5). God’s love imparted to us by the Holy Spirit enables us to love the unlovely.

The God of all grace

We are saved by grace thru faith; but we are also to grow in grace (2 Pet 3:18). God’s grace is freely given to us (Jn 1:16) to help us in our walk and life. When Paul asked for the thorn to be removed, God said that His grace was sufficient for Paul since the thorn was not removed. The writer of Hebrews tells us that it is thru God’s grace we are able to stay sweet in the face of criticism and hurts (He 12:15).

The God of peace

He is called the God of peace five times in the NT. He satisfies the need for peace in the midst of a troubled world and troubled times. Jesus told the disciples that He was giving them His peace (Jn 14:27). We can have peace even in troubled times.

The God of all comfort

The word comfort means to draw near to one’s side, thus meaning that God draws near to us when we need comforting. He comforts us so that we can then comfort others in their times of need.

The God of patience

The writer of Hebrews says we need patience (He 10:36), and we all recognize our need in trying times with others. We know that tribulation works patience in us, but we do not want that to obtain patience. God is the God of patience and just as He is love and sheds love in our hearts, He can also grant us patience in times of greatest need.

The God of glory

The word glory is kind of hard to define – its literal meaning is opinion, goodness, majesty and goes well when we speak of God. He is the God of glory – He is majestic and highly exalted. Since He is glorious and His desire is for us to be like His Son, Jesus, Paul says that through the work of the Holy Spirit we shall be exalted higher and higher in His opinion and esteem (2 Cor 3:18).

The God of hope

We have a hope beyond this world because He is our hope. The return of Christ is our blessed hope (Tit 2:13). God has subjected the entire creation in hope of our hope (Ro 8:20-25).
