Christ is risen

Matthew 28:5-6   And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

6  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Years ago someone took a survey of a thousand people and asked what they thought were the most important events in history. To the shock and disappointment of many the resurrection of Jesus Christ was named as only the fifth most important event – it was blow Columbus discovering America, invention of the printing press and several others.

If you think about what the resurrection did for mankind and its importance toand for us, you will agree with me – they are all worng.

If Christ had not been raised from the dead we could not be justified before a Holy God -- Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.  Belief in His resurrection is key to being saved -- Romans 10:9  if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved..

Often when I speak to people about accepting Christ as Savior to be saved, they say they are not able to live the Christian life, but Paul says that ability (power) comes as a result of the resurrection and indwelling Holy Spirit -- Romans 6:4-7  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

7  For he that is dead is freed from sin.

The fear of death is taken away by Christ’s resurrection. The one who once help power over death (the devil) has been destroyed by Christ’s resurrection. We who believe in Him and have committed our life to Him can live with the assurance that when the time comes to graduate to paradise that death will simply be a door into His presence -- Hebrews 2:14-15  Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15  And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
