The blessed nation

Psalm 33:12-22  Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

13  The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

14  From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

15  He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

16  There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

17  An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

18  Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19  To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20  Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.

21  For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22  Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

At the Passover Feats the youngest child asked his father, “What makes this night so special?” If our children or grandchildren were to ask that of us today what would we say? Many today could not give a true and proper answer. The cancel culture has so cleansed the schools, history books and now even historic sites in order to eliminate the truth of America that many do not know the facts – truth

American freedom

Freedom is costly and our Founding Fathers knew all to well the cost. The writers/signers of the Declaration of Independence separated from their past ties with England in order to form a new country. They knew they had to devote their all to this endeavor if it was going to succeed. They suffered for their decision:

5 were captured and tortured before dying

12 had homes ransacked/burned before they died

Two lost sons in the war

9 died from wounds or hardships of the war

They all expected it may cost them their lives, fortunes and all they had. Franklin said: “We Must All Hang Together, or Most Assuredly, We Will All Hang Separately”

They all knew that they were signing a death warrant that would require their blood, fortunes as well as that of the many others who cherished freedom.

The Godly nature of freedom is rooted in Scriptural truth. When you

read the first twelve lines of Declaration Our Declaration of Independence you notice it is is written based upon Scriptural principles. The founders used terms such as: “nature’s law”, “nature’s God” and “Creator”. They knew it would take blood, sweat and tears to secure our freedom and they freely gave it to us. They also knew it would take blood, sweat and tears to keep it. They hoped future generations would not take it for granted. They hoped future Americans would recognize their duties and preserve the freedoms they paid for.

Our freedom is rooted in God and the church was essential. Revivals brought spiritual life into the founder’s lives prior to the revolution and the church continued to be the backbone of America.  Bu the church drifted and soon the church drifted away from the Bible; preachers declared Christians should not participate in politics, government or any type of military of governmental force. Eventually decay set in the church and the country followed. Today we are experiencing a lot of trouble and uncertainty because of it.

Spiritual lethargy -- don’t take spiritual life for granted.

The pulpits need to cry aloud and trumpet the sin of the church and the people and call for repentance. We need to echo the word of Psa 19:11. Don’t forget the cost of our spiritual freedom  nor our responsibilities as Americans and when we remember and follow the truth of Scripture we’ll be the citizens God wants us to be in a free land.
