Easter boredom

Matthew 28:1-6   In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

2  And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

3  His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

4  And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

5  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

6  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Easter boredom:

Ther’s an old saying that says: Familiarity breeds contempt. What that means is that if we are around someone so often or do certain things so often that we lose our desire or enjoyment. This happens with many people in their jobs, children, and youth in school and even in marriages. The worst kind of contempt from familiarity is in regards to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We see it too often today in the pulpit, the pew and denomination. People will say things like:” we know what is going to happen – I could even preach the sermon and conduct the service”. And often this is the case.

Eater is very practical, and we don’t emphasize or remember the importance of it for us today. Sometimes it’s because of unbelief or apostasy in the pulpit or just plain lackadaisical attitude.  Easter tells us that Christ can be trusted – the angel said He is risen as He said.  The only sign that a wicked generation was to receive of His proof of being the Messiah was the sign of Jonah. As Joah was three days and three nights in the belly of the fish, so Jesus would be three days and nights in the heart of the earth. Jesus told what would happen and it did so we can trust Him.

Christianity is an objective faith – it invites investigation. Those who honestly investigate the facts and evidence all come the same conclusion – Jesus died and rose again. Belief and importance of Easter is not only in the proof but also our eternal destiny and hope. Do you believe? Ate you excited about Easter – you should be.
