Seek first the kingdom 8-9-24
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added
There are two aspects to the Kingdom of God. First is His present rule in the lives of men and women. The second is His rule on this earth in the Person of Jesus Christ over the kingdoms of the world. Jesus’ command to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness involves His present rule in the lives of believers. This involves the qualifications outlined in Scripture for Godly living that will be rewarded in the kingdom and also go toward ruling with/for Christ in the coming kingdom on earth. Peter gives a list of ways that involve seeking the kingdom (2 Pet 1:3-10) and says entrance shall be granted 2 Peter 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus emphasized allowing God’ kingdom rule in our lives when He taught the model prayer to us. The challenge in teaching the Kingdom of God was the understanding of the Jews in reference to the eternal Kingdom on earth along with the dispelling of Israel’s enemies and rule of God in each person’s heart and life. When Jesus was before Pilate He told Pilate that His Kingdom was not of this time period (Jn 18:36) because the Jew had rejected Him and His rule.
